One of the most popular shows, “Friends” is loved worldwide. Though the series ended almost two decades ago, fans still binge watch it regularly. The series got famous when the first episode was aired and maintained its fame ever since.
The series was loved because of the jocularity and also the liberal ideas of the characters; they break stereotypes and taboos easily without making any derogatory comments.
The major characters that are the six friends, each of them, depicted a certain type by their proprieties. For instance, Rachel was shown as the “spoiled rich kid” in the earlier episodes, but later she transformed into a responsible, independent adult. Each character’s vulnerability and hardships were deliberately shown to the audience so as to show that nobody is perfect, and it is fine.
Nonetheless, the major characters were appreciated, but the minor ones also gained fame with the same fervor. Janice’s “Oh My God” still rings in the heads of people.
Besides the hilariousness of the show, I think, people of this generation love it because the idea of people (friends) sitting together and talking about life regularly, instead of digging their heads in the mobiles, is fascinating, soothing and, perhaps, different for them.
This year “Friends” completed its 25 years of prosperity and joy; the occasion is being celebrated by fans and actors in various ways. Google even came up with Easter eggs to pay tribute to the Friends. If one searches the name of any character of friends ( be it Joey, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Monica, Phoebe), for instance, for Ross, a small sofa is visible and if you tap on it, Ross’s famous line “Pivot” is heard; then again tap on the sofa icon, “Pivot” is heard, and if you tap again, the sofa will break in two pieces, and Ross says, “I don’t think it’s going to pivot anymore” The rest of the eggs are surprise for you!
No doubt, these Easter Eggs left us nostalgic and overwhelmed. But, here’s a piece of good news for all the Friends’ fans; recently, BBC News posted a picture of Friends with a caption which hints that something big is cooking up! “Could we be more excited?!” So get ready you all with your blankets and popcorns to binge-watch Friends this winter. Again.
