Jefferson Pierce(Cress Williams) is a father of two daughters and is working as the principal of Charter High School. He is providing a safe-home to young people in New Orleans, a city outrun by gang violence, where he is like a hero to the natives. About nine years back, Pierce was a hero of unique skills.
He was bestowed with the superpower to manage and control electricity. He used his superpowers to keep his hometown and streets safe as the masked ‘Black Lightning.’ However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the loss and affects his family is suffering because of his alter ego, he gave up on Super Hero days and settled into being a decent principal and a wonderful father.
He thus decided to help this city without the use of his superpowers. He watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into beautiful young women, even though his marriage to their Lynn (Christine Adams), has suffered tremendously because of the past issues.
Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him as its almost a decade now. The crimes and atrocities are spreading like hellfire in the city, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang –
Now, Black Lightning ought to return at any cost, not just to protect not only his own family but also the soul of his community. It seems that the situation has further stagnated in the Freeland and forcing both Jefferson and Jennifer to take action against it.
It would be bringing serious consequences for the family. The days of the rule of Black Lightning has return to safeguard the society. It is high time for Jefferson as a decision needs to be made by him that would decide the fate of Freeland.
