Director of Hunger Games Series Lawrence has disclosed that having to release a prequel movie is under discussion right now.
Lionsgate had revealed that he has been working alongside Hunger Games author and Writer Suzanne Collins to produce a new film based on her upcoming prequel novel. The movie will be released next summers. The prequel is set about sixty-four years before the original film and is timed to occur somewhere at the time of the Tenth Edition of hunger Games.
In an interview, Lawrence, who had the credit of directing 3 sequels of the film series already, was asked to return to the Hunger Games franchise for the prequel. He revealed that the issue is actually under discussion with Suzanne Collins and Lionsgate for directing the potential film.
“Yeah, I mean, I have been talking with Suzanne and Lionsgate about it, and so, you know, it’s something that I would love to do.” – He added in an interview.
While The original Hunger Games trilogy focused on the story of Katniss Everdeen and her rising popularity, the plot focused on the Hunger Games( more like suicidal games)where all the participants from different sectors have to compete with one another for survival.
The event is broadcasted live on the television. Katniss stood up against the entire setup with the later sequels focusing on her the people’s uprising against a fascist government. Lionsgate had released 4 films in the sequel which is based on the novels starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence as Everdeen opposite Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, and Elizabeth Banks.
The film has managed to earn a revenue of around $3 billion at the worldwide box office. Hunger Games prequel novel will be aired on May 19, 2020.
