New information for all fans of Vikings — a sequel edition has just been green-lit for Netflix. As per TVLine, the new sequel will be named Vikings: Valhalla and will take position 100 years to post the events in the original HISTORY series.
Vikings creator Michael Hirst is designed to be involved in the sequel, which will go through the lives of some of the most famous Vikings like Leif Erikson, Freydis, Harald Harada and William the Conqueror.
A synopsis for the series claims, “These men and women will blaze new paths as they fight for survival in an ever-changing and evolving Europe.” Besides Hirst, many of those who were included with Vikings will be making the jump to the series.
Morgan O’Sullivan, who was a producer on Vikings, will be an executive producer on Vikings: Valhalla. Also, much of the similar crew will be used for the arriving Netflix sequel, as, like the original, it will be shot in Ireland.
Hirst has also acquired on Jeb Stuart, who has composed Die Hard and The Fugitive, to serve as the sequel’s show-runner.
“I am beyond excited that we are announcing the continuation of our Vikings saga,” Hirst stated in a statement. “I know that the millions of our fans across the globe will be thrilled by the belief being shown in our show by MGM and Netflix.
Jeb Stuart, a truly excellent writer, will bring new storylines and a compelling, visceral vision to stories about some of the most famous Vikings known to history.
The vice president of original series at Netflix, Channing Dungey, also released a statement about the news, which read, “Vikings: Valhalla promises to be everything that fans love about the franchise: heart-pounding, unstoppable action rooted in rich characters and dramatic storytelling that shines the light on family, loyalty and power. We are thrilled to bring the next iteration of the Vikings saga to life.”
