A lot of Wonder Woman fans will have been disappointed after the presumed date of release was extended till June 5th 2020, following the Warner Bros sequel Birds of Prey Feb 7th, 2020.
The initial release date was scheduled for November 2019 and the producer Charles Roven during an interview with Vulture (Lee, 2019) had taken time to explain the reason for the delay. He said “We always wanted the date we are on right now. We had a very rushed pre-production because Patty Jenkins also did the TNT show and we had a rushed schedule to make the date we were on, which was November 1, 2019.
The studio also came back to us and suggested we go back to the month we released Wonder Woman 1, and take the extra time. He also said the producer was determined that this movie should not be the next iteration of the Wonder Woman but not a sequel.
She (Patty Jenkins) also revealed last year at the Comic-Con, “I never want to do more of anything for the wrong reason, we can make a whole new movie about something completely new, and as unique in its own right as the first one”.
Leading Actress Gal Godot said, “It’s not a sequel, it’s its own story, its own chapter, the bar is very high, but our aspirations are even higher, so we just give everything that we have hoping what we bring you guys will love”.
Wonder Woman 1984 is going to Brazil in December at the CCXP convention where the theme song will be revealed, and we are sure Gal Godot will be playing her leading role. Kristen Wiig was confirmed to be playing Wonder Woman’s biggest nemesis Cheetah in the new film. Also, Pedro Pascal, Chris Pine will be featured on this one with huge roles we can’t wait to see.
