Yes! Watching the first season of “The Lord of the Rings”, I felt the movie should not have ended. And I was RIGHT!!! Amazon has become an Emmys juggernaut no other upcoming series proves this point right than Amazon’s long-awaited J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings.”
Yes! You read that, right! Amazon has decided to renew the series for a second season before production on season one has even been completed. Jennifer Salke, the new head of the company, who has added tremendous changes since the exit of the former president Roy Price, declared the renewal during a party for Amazon held on Sunday night. The writers were instantly called back to the writer’s room to work on scripts for season two.
Till date, “The Lord of the Rings” cast which includes Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, Ian McKellan as Gandalf, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, John Rhys-Davies, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Christoper Lee, Hugo Weaving, Sean Bean, Ian Holm, and Andy Serkis—remains beloved. But with the new series’ existence leading to questions about whether or not movie cast will show up.
All the well-known adaptations of the novels have been a live-action feature film, directed by Peter Jackson. When Amazon announced the series, there was an assumption that the series would be a retelling of the books. But in March, it was confirmed the series would instead be a prequel and that it would centre around young Aragorn.
Back in 2017, Amazon reportedly won the bidding war against Netflix for “Lord of the Rings” for a whopping $250 million.
Although the premiere date for the “Lord of the Rings” season two, has not been fixed yet, expectations from fans are at an optimal level, and I think it’s going to turn out to be one of the best blockbusters in 2020.
So, what about you? Are you looking forward to this epic series as well?
