For a while, it seemed that Ant-Man 3 wouldn’t happen and if it did, it might not be in the form of a film. But on November 1 it was confirmed that Peyton Reed would return to direct Ant-Man 3, becoming the first director to oversee the entire trilogy of MCU films. (James Gun will be the first until the Guardian until the delay of Galaxy 3.)

It is a surprise that the two Ant-Man films are not among the biggest MCU successes to date, with Ant-Man grossing $ 519.3 million worldwide and Ant-Man and The Wasp grossing $ 622.7 million. Still, it’s a welcome of surprise and here’s everything we know about the third outing for Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne.

Ant-Man 3: Who is coming back?

Ant-Man 3

Paul Rudd, of course, return as Ant-Man / Scott Lang and even though this has not been confirmed, we would be surprised not to see Evangeline Lily back as Vapor / Hope van Dyne.

Michael Douglas has already confirmed that he will return as Hank Pym, so again, it would be surprising if Michele Pfeiffer did not return as Jane Van Dyne, too, provided she was also Avengers: Endgame Has survived.

Other potential returns include the highly talkative Luis as Michael Pena, Judy Greer as Scott’s ex-wife Maggie, and Bobby Cannavale as Maggie’s new husband, Jim Paxton.

The Avengers: Endgame added a wrinkle, however, as it is now five years old as Ant-Man and The Wasp have MCUs, so Ebby rider Fortson will not return as Cassie Lang.

Instead, Emma Führmann will likely reclaim her endgame role as the teenage Cassie and if she returns, Führmann is excited to potentially be a part of the Young Avengers in the future. “They are Marvel very secretive, but my research showed me that Cassie Stich in the comics and Stinger in the Young Avengers would be great and that would be great,” he told ComicsBook.com.

Ant-Man 3 Release Date: When Can We Expect It?

The official confirmation of the threequel did not coincide with the release date, but Ant-Man 3 is scheduled for “a possible release in 2022”. In an interview with Collider, Michael Douglas revealed that the film would begin filming in January 2021, which will fit in time for the 2022 release and we can work roughly on it when it releases.

Ant-Man 3

Three Marvel films are scheduled for release in 2022, and Black Panther 2 has already been confirmed for May 6. The cap for Ant-Man 3 kicks off on February 18 or July 29, and we think it will be July 29, 2022, in line with the late summer release for previous Ant-Man films. Whether it will officially be a part of Phase 4 or one of the 5 films of the first phase remains to be seen.

Ant-Man 3 Villain: Who Will It Be?

It is unlikely that a third film will see the return of Sonny Burch (Walter Goggins) as he seeks his revenge, but can the future villain be hidden in plain view in the sequel? As part of Ghost’s backstory, it was revealed that his father was none other than Elias Starr. He seemingly caused a state of ghosts during a quantum experiment, yet it is not necessarily a return.
